Kia ora, I’m Christina Schelin.
I’m a registered Educational Psychologist working with children, and their families across Aotearoa New Zealand. I support clients who are navigating social, emotional, behavioral, or developmental differences.
Early on in my career one of the first things I’ve learned is that children struggle to find the words for what they’re going through. More often, it shows up in their play, their behavior, what they keep returning to, and what they avoid altogether. I pay close attention to these quieter signals and meet each child where they are, helping them make sense of their experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable.
I also work closely with the adults in a child’s life. Together, we explore what the child might be trying to communicate and how to respond in ways that strengthen connection, safety, and understanding — both at home and at school.
My approach is gentle and relational, drawing on evidence-based treatments tailored to each child’s needs. I follow the child’s lead through sand tray work, play, and creative expression — staying with what’s happening in the present moment and creating space for children to explore their inner world in a way that feels supportive and non-judgemental.
